RTDS Automated Test Scripts for IEC 61850 MMS
The function of a Script file available in RTDS(R)RunTime module allows the user to control the operation of the simulator and to collect and analyze data with minimum or no direct interaction.This type of operation-the Batch Mode Operation specifically, is particularly useful for protection relay testing where many different types of faults may have to be applied at different locations along a transmission line.This paper discusses the use of RTDS recently developed61850 MMS Voyageur Client program (MMS Client) in RunTime Scripting application.It also presents a simulation example of performing a closed-loop distance protection scheme using RTDS and a Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relay.A RunTime Script is written to automate various testing scenarios.The result proves that the use of MMS Client in RunTime Scripting further helps the automation process and therefore enhances testing of IEC 61850 compatible IEDs.
