Synchronization Method for Fault Recorders of Different Substations Based on Curve Features
Because the timing systems in different substations have different precisions or the timing system itself runs into problems, the time tags of data of fault recorders in different substations cannot be used together or be compared directly.Hence, the time sequence of events in different substations cannot be decided according to their time tags, and wide-area applications, such as fault distance measurement according to data in different substations cannot be realized.However because the sampling rates are usually high and the sampling periods are usually with high precisions, the fault recorders can describe fault transient process in great details.A synchronization method is proposed to synchronize the fault recorder data in different substations according to the characteristics of their analogue measurements during fault events, so that wide-area analysis applications based on recorder data from more than one substations can be realized, even though these substations dont have timing devices, such as GPS, with high precisions.
