Travelling Wave Fault Location Principle Based on Differential Output of Rogowski Coil
A travelling wave fault location principle based on differential output of Rogowski coil is proposed in this paper.Related tests show that Rogowski coil based electronic current transformer (R-ECT) can transfer current traveling wave signal,and its secondary side output is a differential of primary side input.This paper studies the feasibility of using differential output of Rogowski coil for fault location, which mainly includes four parts.The first part is to build the model of Rogowski coil, then the differential current travelling wave characteristics are analyzed in the second part.After that a new recognition method of differential travelling wave front is proposed in the third part.Finally, after taking different fault types and fault locations into account, a PSCAD based simulation is carried out and the results confirm the feasibility and the accuracy of fault location method based on differential current travelling wave.
