Analysis of an HVDC Converter Station Forced Blocking Accident and Improvement Measures

  The article carries on the analysis of an HVDC converter station forced blocking accident and finds out the reason was that the variable frequency drive of water circulating pump in valve cooling system does not have the capability of high and low voltage ride through.According to the starting and operation modes of water circulating pumps and AC/DC/AC characteristics of variable frequency drive, measures to improve variable frequency drive low voltage ride through based on DC support technology is put forward, and measures to improve high voltage ride through is cutting the AC input overvoltage from the DC link and load is supplied by DC support system meanwhile.
