Back analysis method on the rock joints properties for an earthquake-induced landslide
As a commonsense,large shearing displacements applied to rock discontinuities will reduce the frictional strength and produce the residual friction.Fig.1 shows the simplified τ-δ relation,where states B and C are the peak states and state D is the residual state.However,the parameter δr0,which is the amount of displacement needed to produce the residual strength of natural rock joints under large normal stress,has not been experimentally determined,due to the complications in laboratory tests.
