Chemistry, Structure and Quality of Iron Ore Sinter

Iron ore sinter is the predominant component of blast furnace burden materials (often > 70%) in the Asia Pacific region.Consequently, high quality sinter is required to sustain the extreme operating conditions and productivity of modern blast furnaces. It is generally appreciated that sinter quality depends on the mineral textures and physical structure of sinter, which is formed upon solidification of the primary sinter melt. Therefore under given solidification and atmosphere conditions, sinter structure and ultimately quality is controlled by the composition of the primary sinter melt, which is largely dependent on the chemistry and relative reactivity of the sinter blendcomponents.
