Effcet of Calcium Treatment on Low Carbon Al-Killed Steel in CSP Process

  In order to improve the cleanliness and castability of low carbon Al-killed steel for CSP production line of Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation,the change of contents and inclusions of molten steel with different calcium treatment was studied by industrial trial.And the effect of calcium treatment was also analyzed by thermodynamics.The results show that inclusions modification can be realized quickly by calcium treatment.The inclusions are mainly CaS-Al2O3-CaO with high CaS content after calcium treatment.Then the inclusions become fine globular Al2O.3-CaO and CaS-Al2O3-CaO with low CaS content in following refining and casting.The compositions of inclusions are influenced obviously by reoxidation.Thermodynamic study reveals that inclusions modification can be realized by only a small amount of [Ca].The contents of [Ca],[Al] and [S] should be considered at the same time to realize inclusions modification by calcium treatment.And inclusions modification in the tundish is the most important.
