Microstructural Modification of Q345D Steel by Air-Cooling Solidification in Different Time

  After the Q345D steel smelted in the medium frequency furnace,the microstructural could be gotten by different cooling rate.The main microstructural was pearlite by sand cooling,bainite by air cooling and martensite by water cooling.Before controlled cooling process,the samples were treated at different air cooling time and all these structures were observed under room temperature after putting the samples into water pool.Meanwhile,the molten Q345D was cooled by water directly,and the structure was inspected which show almost no ferrite in the seen sight.The austenite formed directly from the molten steel transformed into martensite quickly.And its hardness reaching the peak value.The ferrite begin to precipitate from the molten steel,where the martensite be growth big from the austenitic as the air cooling time increased.This time,the hardness of the Q345D steel would be reduced gradually.The bainite began to precipitate along the austenitic grain boundary after the molten steel had been cooled in air for 7s.The bainite transformation was basically completed after 9s,meanwhile there was still some residual austenite.
