Study on Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel Bars for Bridges
The corrosion behaviors of 2205 and 2Cr13 stainless steel bars in simulated concrete pore solutions with different chloride ion concentrations were investigated by electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization technique.Corrosion weight loss and SEM methods were used to analyse corrosion resistance in marine splash zone and full immersion zone of baked stainless steel bars which were exposed to simulation test device. As a comparative study, the corrosion resistance of HRB400 carbon steel bar was also studied. The results show that the corrosive properties of stainless steel and carbon steel change with the chloride ion concentration in simulated concrete pore solutions. The activation/passivation critical chloride ion concentration of HRB400 was 2%-3%,which obviously less than 2Cr13 stainless steels 4%-6%.The critical chloride ion concentration of2205 stainless steel was nonexistent. In simulated marine splash zone and full immersion zone, the corrosion resistances of 2205 and 2Cr13 stainless steel were higher than HRB400s,and the corrosion rates in marine splash zone were higher than that in full immersion zone. The corrosion rate rank was 2205<2Cr13 < HRB400,and corrosion rates of stainless steel were both lower than 0.1mm/y.
