Cause of Relative Stabilization of Tongguan Elevation in Recent Years
Tongguan elevation imposes local erosion base level for lower Weihe River and Xiaobeiganliu reach of Yellow river.Since the operation of Sanmenxia Reservoir,Tongguan elevation has caused widespread concern,for which an extensive research is carried out.To lower the Tongguan elevation,the mode of operation of Sanmenxia Reservoir was adjusted over and again and numerous structural and non-structural measures are applied.Based on measured data,the evolution process of Tongguan elevation is analyzed and the driving factors for the change of Tongguan elevation are put forward from the prospective of incoming water and sediment conditions and boundary conditions.The causes of its relative stabilization since 2006 are discussed in such aspects as change of incoming water and sediment,adjustment of operational water level of Sanmenxia Reservoir,the experiment of using spring flood to scour Tongguan elevation.The study results are available for the reference for the depression of Tongguan elevation and the research of control measures.
