Study on Historical Geography of Sanmenxia in the Yellow River Basin
The Yellow River starts from the eastern Tibetan Plateau,winding down,passing through Ningxia plain and the Loess Plateau,in the vicinity of Tongguan turns east into western Henan Canyon.Then the Yellow River continues to run east 130 km and arrives at the famous Sanmenxia.Since ancient times,Sanmenxia in the Yellow River Basin has been a section of the most precipitous gorge river and has been known as its unique natural landscape,human landscape,rich culture and history.Although in the end of the nineteen fifties,when the construction of the Sanmenxia Dam changed a part of natural landscape and a lot of human landscape,the profound Yellow River culture and the canal culture,which have formed several thousand years of precipitation,have been deeply infiltrated into the blood of the nation living on this land,and become the common spirit and the unique cultural gene of the whole nation.Therefore,the inspection,mining,sorting and refining to the historical geography and culture of Sanmenxia in the Yellow River Basin are great historically valuable and significant.
