Flocculation Model of Cohesive Sediment Considering Surface Morphology
Flocculation frequently occurs in estuary and coastal zone, and is one of the most important issues of sediment dynamics.Based on Population Balance Equations(PBE),this paper simulates flocculation process of cohesive sediment and flocs size distribution under equilibrium state considering the impact of surface morphology. Results show that this model can accurately describe the flocculation process, and complex morphology can promote flocculation which results in larger flocs. This paper expands the study of flocculation phenomenon from microscopic scale, and prepares for further study on the impact of surface charge and other factors.
