Analysis on Characteristics of Sediment Transport of Ning-Meng Channel of the Upper Yellow River
The paper analyzed the characteristics of sediment transport of Ning-Meng channel based on the observed hydrologic and sediment data of the upper Yellow River and by using analysis method of observed data.The outcomes show that the variation of sediment transport in the section above Qingtongxia of the channel is smaller and the section downstream Qingtongxia has the characteristics of more incoming sediment,more deposition and more desilting.The inflow of tributaries with higher sediment concentration witnesses deposition along the channel and the inflow of the main channel with bigger discharge and lower sediment concentration witnesses scouring along the channel.The scouring is affected by roughening of bed erosion and the increment of restoration of sediment concentration becomes smaller along with the increase of discharge.The research results can provide technical references for the harnessing of Ning-Meng channel on the upper Yellow River.
