Numerical Technique and Tool for Modelling Area-Source Pollution
This paper reports a quasi 3-D numerical simulation,in which the area-source discharge, produced from a slop along the south riverbank of a meandering river reach, has been well modelled. In the computation, three depth-averaged two-equation turbulence models (i.e.(k)-(ε),(k)-(ω) and (k)-(ω)) were used to close the quasi 3-D hydrodynamic fundamental governing equations, discretized on a non-orthogonal,twolevels body-fitted grids with spatially collocated variable arrangement. The last turbulence model however, was recently established by the authors. The advanced multigrid iterative method has been used for accelerating iterative convergence. The aim of the computation is to enhance the modelling ability of a professional numerical tool (namely Q3drml.0),developed recently by the authors, which can be used to simulate and analyze various problems in engineering, related to flow, mixing and contaminant transport.
