Hydrological Simulation and Comparative Analysis Using HIMS and SWAT in the Upstream of the Heihe River Basin

In this article, the China-developed Hydro-Information Modeling System (HIMS),and the overseas developed Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) are applied. The study area is focused on the arid inland, which is located in the catchment above Yingluo Valley Hydrologic Station in Heihe River Basin. The daily and monthly runoff of the study area is simulated from 1990 to2008 in using the aforesaid two models. The results indicated that the two models can be applied in the arid inland river basins. In general, the simulation result of HIMS system is better than the SWAT model both in the daily and monthly runoff. Moreover, the Ens of validation and calibration in monthly runoff simulation using HIMS is up to 0.96,which is a comparatively outstanding result.Furthermore, the HIMS requires less data sources than the SWAT does.As a result,HIMS could be applied better in arid inland area.
