Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) in existing and future networks - Detection and appropriate measures

  This special report reviews eleven papers submitted by authors from five countries as contributions to the Preferential subject 2 of the 2015 SC B5 Colloquium –Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) in existing and future networks – Detection and appropriate measures.The papers provide a diverse overview of the subject,starting with typical Sub-Synchronous Resonance SSR/Sub-synchronous Oscillations SSO cases study,continuing with oscillation mechanism analyzing and mathematical modeling,towards countermeasures analysis and SSR/SSO protection system installation.To aid the discussion the contributions were grouped into three themes as follows.A. SSR/SSO online detection and monitoring B. SSR/SSO suppress method and its implementation effect C. SSR/SSO protection Twelve questions were raised to facilitate a focused discussion on the subject after a brief summary of each paper.
