DELHI LOAD SHEDDING USE CASE
There was a major grid disturbance in Northern Region of India,on July 30th and 31st in the year 2012.Total load of 48,000 MW was affected in this black out.One of the important finding was that if utilities were having load shedding schemes that would have helped to get relief from the system overloading,to a greater extend.Operation of defense mechanisms,like Under Frequency & df/dt based load shedding and Special Protection Schemes,should be ensured in accordance with provisions of the grid code so that grid can be saved in case of contingencies.Delhi came out with the proposal of implementing an Islanding Scheme in consultation with Central Electricity Authority (CEA),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(PGCIL) and Northern Regional Power Committee (NRPC).Alstom was entrusted to implement the scheme.
