Preliminary study on three-dimensional flat-top partition of unity based high-order DDA
Discontinuous Deformation Analysis(DDA)method is an implicit method aimed at simulating large displacement and large deformation of a blocky system with discontinuities.Since the displacement field is usually approximated by the first-order polynomial functions,it leads to a constant stress/strain field within a block.Therefore,in order to improve DDA’s accuracy in modelling the complex stress field,a flattop partition of unity based mesh with a high-order local approximation is utilized in this paper.The basic theory and formula for the flat-top partition of unity based high-order DDA in three-dimensional space are presented.Then,according to the corresponding code developed,a validation example is presented to verify this proposed method.
