Preliminary research of automatic computation using numerical manifold method based on independent rectangular covers
An automatic computation method is presented for static analysis of linear-elastic structures.With the help of Numerical Manifold Method(NMM)based on independent rectangular covers proposed in previous study,automatic pre-processing is performed conveniently.According to the characteristics of independent covers,several estimators of a posterior error are given,including strain continuity between two covers,stresses on boundary surfaces comparing with known conditions,and high-order polynomial error in an independent cover.Taking full advantages of the new method in the aspect of h-version mesh refinement and p-version order increase,h-p version self-adaptivity is implemented in a selected way.Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the feasibility of automatic computation,in which all the procedures are automatically accomplished by the computer,except for necessary manual input of structural outlines,material parameters,and boundary conditions.And numerical results satisfying certain precision can be obtained.
