Analysis of factors affecting accuracy of numerical manifold method
The cover functions of Numerical Manifold Method have two types,such as completed overlapping cover and partial overlapping cover.Governing equations of one-dimensional high-order numerical manifold method with both two covers have been deduced by the general method of weighted residuals.By using the proposed method,a series of numerical experiments have been completed to discuss the factors affecting accuracy,such as the linear dependence problem,the influence of size,order and overlapping ratio of covers.A highly oscillatory differential equation has also been solved.In addition,a posteriori error method is adopted for evaluating the accuracy of the algorithm.The results indicate that the appliance of independent regions can decline even eliminate the linear dependence property of stiffness matrix.The condition number of stiffness matrix is obviously better when using the independent regions.The accuracy of solution increases with the decreasing of overlapping ratio and the increasing of order of cover function.This paper attempts to enrich the theory and practical field of the NMM.
