Development of numerical manifold method for cracking process in rock
As a hybrid method,the numerical manifold method(NMM)shows promising features in modelling continuous-discontinuous problems.Since it adopts two covers system,it is very powerful in modelling fracture related problems.In this presentation,how to extend NMM for cracking problems,such as crack initiation,crack propagation,crack coalescence and structure safety problems associated with cracks is introduced.Different failure criteria,crack representative strategy and crack evolution techniques during the fracturing process will be presented in detail.Validation and application of the developed NMM for cracking related problems will also be presented.
