Characterization of Nonlinear Interactions in Mode-Multiplexed Systems

　　We present the fundamental effects behind intermodal nonlinear interaction in multi-mode fibers.The derived theory is applied to characterize the impairments of nonlinear interaction on the transmission quality of an exemplary optical MDM system.
