The Nature of men and Its Co-occurrence with Numeral Expressions in Mandarin Chinese

　　In the construction numeral expression ﹢NP﹢men which can be further analyzed as numeral expression ﹢NP﹢men,men is a functional word with the function to denote a large quantity.In Chinese,men is used to meet the pragmatic requirements rather than the syntactic ones.Whether to use men or not depends on the speakers subjective wishes.In certain cases,due to the Economy Principle,numeral expressions and men can not co-occur.
