Numerical Simulation of Complex Flows using the Portable Extensible Toolkits for Scientific Computing(PETSc)

  In this paper,we explore the feasibility of the Portable Extensible Toolkits for Scientific Computing (PETSc) for developing CFD softwares with parallelization ability.In this work,we have solved the Euler equations with the finite volume method on structured grids using PETSc.The time integration scheme is the 4-stage SSP Runge-Kutta method,and the fifth-order weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) scheme is used for spatial discretization.Two test cases including double mach reflection and Rayleigh-Taylor instability have been carried out.Numerical results have demonstrated great potential of using PETSc for large scale simulation both in terms of efficiency and applicability.
