Numerical Simulation of the Unsteady Interaction Between Lateral Jets and Rudder Movement
Unsteady numerical simulation methods and local mesh deforming technique are developed,with the intention to simulate the unsteady dynamic response problem of pulse lateral jets and the interaction between lateral jets and rudder movements.The establishing process of interaction flow fields with/without lateral jets is studied,and the interactive effect between pulse lateral jets of different frequency is analyzed.The results show that,strong interaction would occur in the case of pulse lateral jets with high frequency,with the force amplification factor being only one quarter of the normal condition in the most serious case.Rapid rudder movements would also induce severe unsteady hysteresis,in which the phase lag between the rudder movement and the interaction effects of jets would exceed 90 degree.Therefore,the unsteady hysteresis effects induced by rudder movements should be taken into account for design of blended control system involving both lateral jets and rudder movements.
