Application of Nominal Casting Speed Technology in Steelmaking Plant of WISCO

  Steelmaking plants of WISCO are carrying out “nominal casting speeds in the production of continuous casting.The deviation of casting speed may cause series of problems such as longitudinal cracks,segregations and the decrease of purity of the steel.A series of solutions are proposed after analyzing the key factors that may influence casting speed.The nominal casting speeds ratio has been improved to above 94%through coordinating the production of BOF,RH vacuum degassers and continuous casters.It also improves the control level of automatic production management.The acceptability of slabs rises up to 99.89%and the nonqualified ratio of slabs after rolling decreases to 0.35%.Ratio of A-grade segregation is 0 in the consecutive 47 months and the segregation ratio that is lower than C-grade is 99.44%.This high level control provides an excellent foundation on the productions of automotive sheet steels and pipelines which has achieved good economic benefits.
