Fundamental Investigations on M-LCFeCr Smelting by Introducing CO2

  In order to optimize Medium and Low Carbon Ferrochrome(M-LCFeCr)production from High Carbon Ferrochrome(HCFeCr)to obtain higher Cr yield and lower operation cost,at the same time,to reuse CO2 so as to protect the environment,some pre-experiments in an induction furnace had been carried out to explore the effect of CO2 on ferrochrome smelting in converter process.The results showed that it has a positive effect on temperature controlling,decarburization and chromium-retention when CO2 is introduced.Therefore,it is feasible to use CO2 in the refining process to produce M-LCFeCr.
