Preparation and Application of Al2O3-SiO2 Microporous Aggregates
Modern high-temperature industrial processes require high quality refractory materials which can withstand higher temperature,more intense chemical corrosion,more severe mechanical damage,and high efficient insulation.Raw material is the basis of high quality refractory production.It plays an irreplaceable important role for realization of new technology and process in high temperature industries such as ferrous metallurgy.Based on the review of the recent researches of microporous refractory raw materials at home and abroad,the research works carried out by the authors were mainly introduced including three aggregates of microporous corundum,bauxite and clay.And the alumina-magnesia(Al2O3-MgO)refractories were prepared by using microporous corundum.Their properties and microstructure were studied and discussed in this paper.For aggregates of microporous corundum,bauxite and clay,the bulk density are 3.10-3.40g/cm3,2.90-3.10g/cm3,1.70-2.00g/cm3 respectively,the apparent porosities are smaller than 11%,the closed porosity are greater than 10%,the average pore size are less than 1μm.The prepared Al2O3-MgO refractories are not only with high mechanical strength and high temperature dimensional stability,and also have lower thermal conductivity,higher thermal shock resistance,and the slag corrosion resistance could to be improved.
