Steel Cleanliness of Non-Oriented Silicon Steels during RH Refining

  In this paper,the variation of T.O.,[N],other chemical compositions such as [C],[P],[S],[Mg],[Ti] of non-oriented silicon steel during RH vacuum degassing process were investigated.The effect of ladle holding time on the T.O.and [N] of the steel was studied.After the deoxidization of the molten steel was completed,cluster alumina and other large size complex inclusions were generated.After the addition of the deoxidizer,the T.O.of the steel rapidly decreased to a relatively low level while the [N] content changed slightly and still maintained in a low level.The T.O.and [N] were less than 20ppm after RH treatment.The T.O.in steel reached a lowest valur when the holding time was approximately 30 min.The variation of slag composition corresponded to the variation of inclusion composition.After decarburization,[C] was sharply decreased to 20ppm,however,[C] was slightly increased during desulfurization.
