Control of Dissolved Aluminum in Ultra-Low Carbon High Silicon Steels

  The content of the dissolved aluminum (Als) is of importance to the defects and the rejection fraction of the ultra-low carbon high silicon steels production.The Als content is related to various technical factors during the manufacturing process of ultralow carbon high silicon steels.In the current paper,the influence of refining slag composition and the holding time between BOF and RH,etc.on the Als content in the steel was investigated.It is indicated that slags with lower T.Fe and higher basicity is beneficial to the stability of Als content,illustrated also by the thermodynamic calculation.The relationship of carryover slag,addition of ladle slag reducer and T.Fe content in slag was calculated,contributing to the control of Als content in ultra-low carbon high silicon steels.
