Development and Metallurgical Characteristics Research of Flat Single Snorkel Vacuum Degasser

　　The flat single snorkel vacuum degasser developed in this paper is based on single round snorkel degasser which was invented by Zhangjian in 1970’s.The flat single snorkel limits bottom blowing gas swing and form stable bubbles floating path to keep wider liquid steel exposed surface,and the far eccentricity bottom blowing make wider circular path to increase decarburization rate.Water model shows that the mixing time decreases while the bottom blowing flow increase,and with the eccentricity distance increase,the mixing time initially decreases and then increases,the optimum bottom blowing point is on half axis radius.The industrial test indicate that the decarburization rate of flat single snorkel vacuum can match RH,the end carbon is less than 30×10-6,the average desulfurization rate is two times higher than RH.The ULC and ULS steel can be produced using flat single snorkel vacuum degasser.
