Steel Water Quality Improving and Total Cost of Operation Reducing by Nalco IronGUARD-Technology in the Treatment of Continuous Casters and Rolling Mills Direct Contact Water System

　　In this paper,an innovative IronGUARD technology was developed to treat the continuous casters and rolling mills direct contact water system.With the patented IronGUARD chemical,iron and oil from the process could be separated efficiently,and the water quality could be improved easily.Mechanism of this treatment was proposed and confirmed by the bottle tests.An application case from US steel plant was also shown.The results indicated that the IronGUARD technology not only could improve the water quality,but also reduce the total cost of operation,which brings great environmental and economic benefits to the steel mill.
