Effect of Li2O on Crystallization of Mould Fluxes for Continuous Casting of High Aluminum Steel
The effect of Li2O on crystallization of mould fluxes for continuous casting of high aluminum steel was investigated.Experimental results indicate that the addition of Na2O can decrease the crystallization temperature, but it also promotes the precipitation of 12CaO.7Al2O3,consequently,the crystalline fraction of solid slag film increases sharply with the increase of Li2O content, and a 1%increase in Li2O content was associated with a 15%increase in crystalline fraction. For slags containing no Na2O,the mineralogical phase are mainly CaF2 and 2CaO.SiO2.Al2O3,and the crystalline fraction increases gradually to 80%with the increase of Li2O from 2%to 6.5%.It means that the Li2O can be used to substituted part of Na2O when designing mould fluxes used for high aluminum steel, and the addition of Li2O is expected to provide adequate lubrication for solidified shell.
