Research of Helical Magnetic Field Stirring in Bloom Continuous Casting
In order to obtain more effective result by electromagnetic stirrer,a new equipment that can generate helical magnetic field has been designed in ANsteel company.The electromagnetic fields and the flow fields generated by the new equipments have been simulated and compared with those generated by the traditional one.It can be seen that with the helical magnetic field stirrer,the mass and heat transfer can be enhanced in three dimensions,while the traditional stirrer can only drive the melt flow in two dimensions.The applied feasibility of helical magnetic field stirrer in the continuous casting has been analyzed.Compared with the traditional stirrers,the new helical magnetic field stirrer has the similar dimension and power consumption,it can be utilized instead of the traditional ones in the mold,second cooling zone and ending in the continuous casting.The better quality of the casting blank can be obtained due to the three dimension driving forces.
