Three-Dimensional Imaging in the Casting Surface Quality Inspection of Defect

Casting surface defect detection is important to ensure and improve the quality of the slab.Currently common industrial method of detection is taking photographs of its textured surface to feed the detection of defects through the edge and texture analysis. However, this method does not give the defect depth information. At the same time, many slab surface oxides also interfere with the accuracy of detection. This paper proposes the use of binocular active three-dimensional imaging method based on phase information to achieve defect detection of depth information which can directly reflect the defect depth, while better able to exclude oxide, indentation, and water stains and other interference. The three-dimensional imaging method using a projection device project the slab surface a series of phase-shifted frequency sinusoidal grating pattern, which projected on the slab surface is modulated by surface depth to be deformation stripes. This paper calculate the surface projection phase by phase shift method and other methods, calculate the phase matching between the left and right camera, use binocular camera calibration parameters to reconstruct threedimensional morphology of the slab surface. This paper describes the principles of three-dimensional imaging, applications, and related technical parameters and requirements in the surface defect detection through experiments demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.
