Development and Application of Qian’an Mould with Chamfered Corner for Continuous Casting of Slabs
The transverse crack defects with a higher incidence of slab containing Nb,V,B and other micro-alloyed elements,the traditional cooling methods are difficult to avoid brittle zone III of these steels.In this paper,chamfered corner mould was applied for settling the transverse crack defects of slabs containing Nb,V,B and other micro-alloyed elements,and the solidification shrinkage of the molten steel was studied by the numerical simulation.The diversification chamfered mold was designed based on the solidification shrinkage of the molten steel,the solidification shrinkage rule is that solidification shrinkage rate is faster in the upper part of the mold and slower in the down part of the mould.A series of technology come into being when investigating the chamfered mold technology,for example,the optimization of dummy bar head shim,the chamfered corner mould on-line width adjustment technology,the chamfered corner mould insert partition into different steel grades technology,cutting the chamfered corner slab technology and so on.The chamfered mould is applied to the Qianan continuous casters and production is all right and very steady,the life of the chamfered mould reaches to the life of traditional mould or more.The application of mould with chamfered corners improves the slab cooling and stress state,the chamfered mould is applied to the crack-sensitive steels,such as pipeline steel,wheel steel,crossbeam steels and so on.The ratio of total slab transverse corner crack was reduced from 4.16%to 0.6%or less.The chamfered mould is good to cold rolled steels too.The application of mold with chamfered corners and the low temperature coming out of the oven,the fuel consumption is lower and the edge surface defects of hot rolled strip reduced from 4.69%to 0.5%or less.
