Steel Cleanliness of Tire Cord Steels
Steel samples and slag samples were taken at each step of steelmaking,refining and casting for the production of tire cord steels.The content of total oxygen(T.O.)and N,the morphology,amount,size distribution,and composition of inclusions in steel samples were analyzed.The T.O.and N in the steel after LF refining and in the tundish during continuous casting were as low as approximately 20ppm.In the billets,except the central thickness locations,the T.O.was below 18ppm and the N content was below 30ppm.Inclusions in steel were mainly with composition of MgO-CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-(MnO),MgO-MnO-SiO2-Al2O3-(CaO),CaOSiO2-Al2O3-(MnO)and MnO-SiO2-Al2O3-(CaO).The inclusions of MnO-SiO2-Al2O3-(CaO)were over 56%of the total inclusions.From LF to tundish to billet,the amount of inclusions was 35.48#/mm2,27.13#/mm2 and 18.68#/mm2,respectively.Over 65%inclusions were less than 3μm.At the same time,the composition of molten steel was calculated using Factsage software.
