Non-Metallic Inclusions in 1J85 Permalloy and Their Influence on Soft Magnetic Properties
Magnetic properties are crucial factors to improve performance of 1J85 permalloy. This paper investigated non-metallic inclusions that affect magnetic property of 1J85 alloy produced by vacuum induction smelting.Compositions, contents and types of non-metallic inclusions in 1J85 alloy at certain temperature were calculated using thermodynamic software FacTSage.Impacts and possible mechanisms of certain non-metallic inclusions on the magnetic properties of 1J85 alloy were studied subsequently by SEM and EDS analyses. The results showed that magnetic properties of 1J85 alloy were deteriorated as the amount of non-metallic inclusions increasing. The main non-metallic inclusions formed in 1J85 alloy were endogenesis impurities, such as Al2O3,Al6Si2O13,Mn3Al2Si3O12 multiple oxides combined with small amount of MnS.It is observed that plastic inclusions such as MnS,brittle inclusions especially α-Al2O3 impeded motion of magnetic domain-wall,which led to serious impact on magnetic properties.
