Dissolution Mechanism of Elements from Steelmaking Slag in Fluvial and Marine Environments

The elution behavior of elements, especially Fe ion, from steelmaking slag was investigated.Regardless of slag basicity and FeO concentration in steelmaking slag, the amount of ferric iron ion dissolved from steelmaking slag became larger with increasing metallic iron content in slag.Meanwhile, the ferric iron ion concentration in seawater rose in an early stage, and then decreased gradually with time. Moreover,as a result of investigating the stability of ferric iron ion, performing pH control of solution, ferric iron ion concentration decreased gradually with the rise of pH from the early stages of elution test.Influence of the slag cooling rate on the concentration of elements dissolved from decarburization slag and dephosphorization slag was clarified. The amount of iron ion increases by the addition of organic acid.
