Study on Performance Evaluation Index of Relay and Its Relationship with Lifetime

  It is important to estimate the lifetime of contact relay for improving the reliability and safety of the entire electrical system.For the uncertainty and discreteness of contact resistance, the method of least-square polynomial fitting is used to get the regularity of initial contact resistance.First, according to the quantity of fitting curves fluctuation, samples of relay are classified to three types.Next, based on the extreme values and endpoint values of fitting curve, a method is proposed which is used to determine each class of the electrical performance evaluation index of relay.After that, it is confirmed by an example that the proposed method is feasible and effective.Finally, through analyzing the relationship between performance evaluation index and the lifetime of samples of all classes, the conclusions are as follows: the lifetime of relay would be longer if the value of performance evaluation index is lower.And a large first contact resistance didnt cause earlier failure directly, and that the lifetime of relay would be short if a series of large contact resistances occur in the initial period of operation.
