Reliability Analysis of Two High-Efficiency Micro-Inverter Topologies
A micro-inverter can directly convert the DC power from solar panels into the AC power to the grid, which has many advantages, such as being easy in mass production, separate MPPT, hot plug and so on.With the sustainable growth of market demand and the development of semiconductor industry, micro-inverters will become one of the main forms of the grid-connected PV system. But some reliability issues like short life of electrolytic capacitors and too high voltage stress in power switches will influence the life of micro-inverters.To solve these problems, two high-efficiency topologies, interleaved flyback topology and topology based on the high frequency AC link, are studied.According to the circuit topologies, predict the reliability of the topologies by parts count estimation method.By studying their operating principles, and simulation results, the influences of the life of the capacitors and the voltage stress in the main power switches to the reliability of micro-inverters are given. Finally, the experimental prototype based on the high frequency AC link topology validates its higher reliability and it is more effective for micro-inverters.
