Research on Arc Characteristics and Its Influence during MCB Breaking Process

  The moving process of operating mechanism during MCB breaking and dosing process is analyzed.PRO/E three-dimensional model and dynamic are model between contacts for MCB are established.And conduct a test experiment for MCB breaking characteristic.Arc resistance R is calculated based on actual experimental current and voltage data through Ohms law.The contact spacing d is achieved by simulation which is constrained by simulated breaking time equal to measured value.Both R and d are parameters changed over time.Under the condition of considering and disregarding dynamic are resistance, Holm force is calculated and Lorentz force is simulated by Ansoft under different contact spacing, based on different levels of actual current data.Dynamic mathematical model for electro-dynamic repulsion force is established.Under the condition of considering and disregarding dynamic arc resistance or electro-dynamic repulsion force, MCB breaking speed and breaking time are simulated and compared.It is found that dynamic arc delay breaking process, electro-dynamic repulsion force accelerate breaking process, while the combined effect of dynamic are and electro-dynamic repulsion force delay breaking process.
