Research and Practice of New Technique for Blasting Demolition of Hyperbolic Cooling Tower
The hyperbolic cooling tower is tall and big with thin wall and small depth-width ratio. In the traditional blasting demolition, drilling and blasting are needed on herringbone column, ring beam and tower shell simultaneously which result in large quantity of drilling and charges, protection of high difficulty, wide range of flying rocks, recoiling and squatting without collapse occasionally. For the above problems,a new technique is proposed for the cooling tower blasting demolition.First, several longitudinal cuts are made on the shell of the cooling tower in the collapse direction which will accelerate the transverse deformation during the collapse process.Second, node blasting is conducted to both ends of the herringbone column. Then the upper structure will collapse to the giving direction by gravity. The proposed technique is successfully applied in the blasting demolition of three 90m high hyperbolic cooling tower of Huarun Electric (Jinzhou) Co.,Ltd.Practice results show, compare to the traditional technique the proposed technique has shorter construction time, smaller collapse vibration, less cost, better safety, reduce the diffusion range of flying rocks and has a guiding significance for the construction of similar projects.
