Gas-Dynamic Hazard in Presentday Highly Productive Mines-Prediction Problems and Solutions
Currently, the high-productive mining, with rapid advancing of the extended and high capacity stoping drastically increases geodynamic activity of rock masses, and results in elevated risk of hazardous and even disastrous geodynamic phenomena. In addition, the hazard of gas-dynamic phenomena is greatly contributed to by higher natural gal content and increased strata pressure in deep level mining,as well as by peculial physic-mechanical and gas-kinetic properties of coalbering rock mass with tectonic fauits. This being the situation, neither Russia nor rest of the world possesses sufficient knowledge and practice of deep and high-productive mining in highly gassy and faulted coal fields. In order to elicit the mechanism of origination of the most information al predictors of gas-dynamic phenomena, the integrated research is now in progress to find out specific and regular characteristics of geomechanical, seismic, acoustic, physicochemical and gas-kinetic processes that take place in high stress,gas-bearing faulted rock mass exposed to in tensive mining and,for this reason, industrially impactad. The greatest promise in this context is offered by the designed seismo-geomechanical automated forecasting and mine safety control system that is now passing the full-scale tests in mines in the Kuznetsk Coal Field(Kuzbass) and Vorkuta Coal Field.
