1914~2014: Families, Places and Memories--Enlightenment from Regional Landscape Garden Construction
Cultural identity crisis has become a world issue for research in the process of urban modernization transformation.Regional cultural identity requires regional features.A stereotyped crisis arises in regional landscape garden construction, and it is now a consensus in the process of urbanization to dig out, save and activate the abundant collective memories outside the protection directory so as to maintain historical places which are regionally recognized.By combing out the regional life of a family which lasted for a century, taking the narrations of three members of the family as the clue, and by choosing some important places to playback the history of the family on these sites, the author of the essay proposes that, at a time of forceful exploitation, and in the process to restructure regional landscape gardens, we should pay attention to the memory of the ordinary people living in these places, try hard to retain some of the regional land forms and local features, maintain some places so that the land forms may stay and the memories of local residents may be kept, so that we may explore technical methods and strategies to dig out, save and activate the memory places in the process of constructing regional landscape gardens with cultural identities.
