Concept and Practice of Landscape Kuang-Ao and View Composition and Organization from Zongyuan Lius Observation, Appreciation and Construction of the Pavilions
During more than 500 years from Mid Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, it is an important stage for the interacting, merging and development of landscape poetry, painting and gardening, which is also a vital transition from the Passion (情)to the Rational (理)and then to the Spirit (神), with its ideology and culture rooted from the Mid Tang Dynasty.Pioneering in ideology transformation of the Tang and Song dynasties and Neo-Confucianism, Zongyun Liu had put forward the concept and practice of landscape perception Kuang-Ao(旷-奥), which touched the core of aesthetic evaluation theory of modern landscape, with profound implication1.With Pavilion images in Lius landscape poetry as a clue, through observation-wandering for experiencing and Kuang-Ao for experience evaluation, analysis is made on the theory and practice of serial scenes from Lius observation, appreciation and construction of pavilions and the basic prototypes of this process is reviewed.This plays an important role in our understanding the nature and implication of sceneries-sequence planning and solving problems on the inheriting and development of Chinese landscape gardens today.
