Master Plan for Public Administration Town
This is the urban design masterplan for the public administration town of Korea.Located in 120km southeast of the capital city Seoul, Yeongi-gun, Chungnam Province, MAC is being zoned and planned to support the government relocation and outstanding infrastructure for its future residents.The site area is 2,700,000m2 and target population 500,000 people.Population density is 312people per hectare.For the international competition, the project proposes a newly configured city, where democratic principles are expressed in the shape of the urban fabric.To achieve the goal, the concept of flat city, link city, zero city was introduced.Flat city shaped the government buildings into an iconic plane, democratic society, the iconic planes surface extends across the whole city, creating an expansive public park, easily accessible, and open to all.Link city connects agencies for more efficient function and interaction.Government facilities, parks andgreen space, educational and cultural facilities, commercial zones, residential districts, and shopping areas create an interconnecting network.Zero city has integrated infrastructure systems to reuse waste, reduce pollution, and supply essential city functions.The systems create a new wildlife habitat, making Zero city a good neighborhood.This proposal was made as architecture, city, and landscape architecture have shared historical, regional, natural experiences and combined as a whole.This design has build in step 3 in 2008~2014.First-prize winner of international competition has right of design Step l~zone 1 and it contains center administration function and Step 2 and Step 3 proceed architecture competition.This towncompletes the construction in 2014 and shows the future images for sustainability of environmentallyfriendly green city, having a new vision that is suitable.
