ADSORPTION BEHAVIOR OF POLYCARBOXYLATE WATER REDUCERSON CEMENTITIOUS MATERIALS
The adsorption behavior of polycarboxylate water reducers (PCs) on cementitiousmaterials was researched from the respect of molecular mass and its distribution. The effects of adsorption behavior of PCs on the dispersibility and dispersion retention capability were analyzed. The results show that adsorption amount of PCs with a higher average molecular mass on the surface of cement particle is higher compared with that of PCs with a lower molecular mass. And those PCs fractions with a high molecular mass adsorb preferentially on the surface of cement particle. For the same PCs, the fluidity of cement paste increases with the increasing adsorption amount on the surface of cement particles, and the fluidity of cement paste and adsorption amount of PCs presents a positive correlation. For the different PCs, however, the correlation between the two mentioned above is poor. The research on the different adsorption behavior of PCs on the surface of cement, fly ash and ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBFS) contributes to guiding the design of molecular structure and to improving the compatibility between PCs and cementitious materials.
