Investigation and Visualization of Power Energy Consumption in University Campus: As an Example of Osaka City University Sugimoto Campus
The aim of this research is to investigate the actual power consumption on a university campus in Japan for use in planning of a green campus. As an example, we investigate the power consumption of the Osaka City University Sugimoto Campus for the period from April 2013 to March 2014.We divided the Sugimoto Campus into four areas and calculated the power consumption used in these areas and in each individual building. It is shown that the power consumption of the science, engineering and human life science course area is the largest in all areas, about 6.1 x 106kWh per year over a total floor area of 45593m2.The large-scale equipment and experimental facilities being used by the faculties of science, engineering and human life science is considered as the reason that power consumption of this area is the largest. We also estimate the power consumption of air conditioning, and the total annual carbon dioxide emissions of the campus.
