Research On The Considerations About Public Toilets In Station Building
The purpose of this study is to determine the considerations about public toilets in station building, and then propose the existing problems and solutions.Locations selected for the survey are the buildings of JR Hakata Station and JR Osaka Station.A total of 48 public toilets are selected as the research objects among six commercial facilities of the two station buildings.The survey content was selected referring to the existing literature about the design principles for public toilets.The results of research indicate that, the consideration about public toilets in station building included: demands for women and people carrying infant,demands for hand-luggage, demands for non-contacting sanitation and personal privacy.Meanwhile, based on the research results, it is necessary to implement some proposals to improve the convenience of public toilets and to propose some improvement methods to solve the sanitation and personal privacy problems of public toilets.
